Moroccan Sahara: Bangladeshi general appointed commander of MINURSO

Fakhrul Ahsan succeeds Pakistani General Zia Ur Rehman, who will complete his mission at the end of March, said the UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, at his daily press briefing.

Ahsan, who has more than 34 years of experience, has served as commander of the Bangladesh Military Academy and director of military intelligence at the Bangladesh Army headquarters. He has also served in two peacekeeping missions, in Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
