US Congressional Research Center Unveils Iranian-Polisario Relations

-

The Federal Research Agency, which reports to the American Congress, has revealed the relations that exist between Iran and the Polisario, in particular as regards the supply of arms and the propagation of Shiite ideology in the Maghreb and North Africa region Sahel.

The US Congressional Research Center confirmed in a report that Iran is providing arms to the Polisario through the Hizbollah terrorist movement. The daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia reports, in its edition of Tuesday, October 12, that Morocco had severed its diplomatic relations with Iran by giving precise information on the connection of Hizbollah with the separatists via a member of the Iranian embassy in Alger.

Foreign Minister Nacer Bourita revealed that this relationship began in 2016 when a support committee for the “Saharawi people” was created in Lebanon with the sponsorship of Hizbollah, before a military delegation was sent to Tindouf.

The US Congress Research Center report confirms Iran’s infiltration into Algeria where the Ayatollahs are trying to spread their revolutionary brand of Shiism through terrorist movements like the Polisario.

The report subsequently focused on the excellent relations between the United States and Morocco. He praised the stability enjoyed by the kingdom, described as a strategic ally, in a region plagued by unrest and conflict.

The daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia reports that this agency stressed that the stability of Morocco was of paramount importance in a context characterized by the conflicts in Libya and in the Sahel region, as well as by political unrest in Tunisia and Algeria. . The report then examines the historic relations and the solid partnership between Rabat and Washington: “Morocco is considered an important regional partner in the areas of security, trade and development. Morocco is an essential ally outside NATO with which the US maintains periodic strategic dialogue. Not to mention that he is a member of the international coalition led by the United States against the so-called “Islamic State” organization.

The report also recalls the current position of the White House, citing President Joe Biden, who called Morocco a strategic ally playing an essential role in consolidating stability in the region.

It should be remembered that this federal agency, which reports to Congress, is responsible for researching and developing studies that guide general policy in the legislative division of the federal government.
