Higher education: Morocco awaits MRE competence

-

The Ministry of Higher Education, in collaboration with the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) and the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST), organized on Saturday in Rabat, the Assises de la 13ᵉ Region dedicated to Moroccan skills abroad.

The meeting is held in execution of the royal directives contained in the speech of King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the Day of the Revolution of the King and the People. The Sovereign had insisted on the need to seek the contribution of skills abroad in the realization of the kingdom’s priority development projects, recalled Abdellatif Miraoui, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, in his opening speech at the event.

“Morocco is one of the countries that have been able to maintain strong ties with their community abroad, thanks to a public policy approach for the benefit of these communities who aspire to strengthen social ties and to discover the cultural heritage that characterizes Moroccan identity, rich in its multicultural tributaries, especially for the generations born in the country of the diaspora”, explained the minister, welcoming the decisive contribution of Moroccans abroad during the health crisis.

For Miraoui, “mobilizing Moroccan skills abroad for the success of the transformation projects on which the national acceleration plan is based is an essential option for strengthening the capacities of educational supervision within national university institutions, supporting the mobility of students and researchers at the international level or involving these skills in scientific research programs and innovation activities”.

The Minister also emphasized the creation of a motivational framework in order to attract these skills and provide them with favorable conditions to enable them to contribute effectively to the qualitative improvement of the higher education system, scientific research and innovation. “Aware of the need to win this important bet, the ministry has launched a set of reforms concerning the legal and regulatory framework aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the teaching profession in universities,” he said.
