In Morocco, around ten brands of bottled water are sold on the market. By far the most important are Sidi Ali, Ain Saïss and Sidi Harazem.
In a study on brand awareness of bottled water in Morocco, Sungeria ranked the most popular varieties in the consumer market by identifying the Top-Of-Mind brands.
It emerges from this ranking that the Sidi Ali brand is leader of the ranking with 51% of citations, while Aïn Saiss and Sidi Harazem are second and third in the ranking with 15% and 11% respectively.
The study also states that the market is globally covered by two major operators, which own the top four most consumed brands. These are the Mineral Waters of Ulmès (Sidi Ali and Bahia) and Sotherma (Aïn Saiss and Sidi Harazem), which concentrate the most market share and are, moreover, the oldest on the market.
These waters compete for the market with only two foreign brands, Ciel and Aquafina, underlines the same source, adding that two brands out of 10 are table waters namely, Bahia and Ciel.
Regarding the profile of consumers and their region, Sunergia explains in its study that Sidi Ali is very popular among men aged 18-24, 45-54, socio-professional categories (CSP) A and B and the inhabitants of the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region. On the other hand, Ain Saïss is cited a lot among women, 25-34 year olds and graduates (Bac +2).
