In Morocco, the private school is doing much better than the public

-

Private establishments in Morocco generally perform better than public ones. There is a gap between the performance level of students, according to the Higher Education Council.

In its 2019 report contained in the national student achievement program (PNEA), the council revealed that there remains a difference between public and private establishments, specifying that private students benefit from more reinforced supervision, support, a more favorable social environment, various resources for their learning.

In detail, it emerges from the report that 6th year primary schoolchildren and 3rd year secondary school pupils do better in all the subjects selected (Arabic, French, mathematics, scientific awakening, physics and chemistry). and life and earth sciences).

For example, the report points out that in mathematics, schoolchildren in private schools accumulate 280 points (out of 500), compared to 246 for their fellow students (or +34 points). In middle school, the score of private students is 313 points, against 247 for those from the public sector (+66 points).

“If we refer to the criteria of the OECD, this difference is equivalent to a gap in education of four years between the two sectors,” said Rahma Bourqia, director of the National Assessment Authority (INE).
