Israel: first non-Jewish Moroccan student at university

-

David Govrin, Israel’s charge d’affaires in Morocco, announced the enrollment of a Moroccan student of non-Jewish descent at an Israeli university. A first.

“Among the strongest manifestations of cultural cooperation between Morocco and Israel is the enrollment of the first 17-year-old Moroccan student at the Kfar Hayarok International School to study,” said David Govrin in a post posted on Twitter.

After the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel under the leadership of the United States on December 10, 2020, the two sides are working to strengthen their ties. During the two-day working visit of Yaïr Lapid, head of Israeli diplomacy in Morocco, last August, the two countries signed three new agreements on the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the political, cultural, youth and sports and air services.

In the field of education, the International University of Rabat (UIR) in Rabat and the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in Israel signed a partnership in September. The two universities are committed to facilitating scholarly and scientific cooperation through joint research as well as education and student mobility in the fields of social and natural sciences, as well as humanities.
