The Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration revealed that compulsory military service will be introduced again in Morocco from next year.
During the discussion of the Budget allocated to the National Defense Administration, within the framework of the Finance Bill (PLF 2022), Abdellatif Loudiyi affirmed that the next contingent will have 20,000 conscripts, distributed in the four training centers who had previously hosted the previous contingent.
As well as new units will be created and distributed in the southern provinces of the Kingdom. These units will also be reserved for the period of specialization in various other trades, susceptible to subsequent integration into the labor market.
Abdellatif Loudiyi also specified that the Interior Ministry is preparing to begin the operation of identifying the conscripts who will constitute the contingent 37 and to proceed with their distribution. This, after the signal agreement of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Chief and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, on the horizon of the census and the integration of future conscripts who will be subject to compulsory military service in 2022.
In addition, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of the National Defense Administration, stressed that the FAR ensured that an organization chart was put in place to guarantee the reception of conscripts under the best possible conditions. To do this, major works are underway for this purpose and concern the preparation of the premises and the necessary equipment.
