The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) signed, yesterday in London, a record partnership with EasyJet Group owner of EasyJet Airlines and the tour operator EasyJet holidays.
The agreement concluded between Adel El Fakir, Director General of the ONMT and Johan Lundgren, Managing Director of EasyJet Group provides for a real rise in power of the European giant in Morocco, says the ONMT in a statement.
This agreement is historic for the destination Morocco. The airline has a real expertise on the European market, our first source of tourists. This reinforces our offensive strategy on our target markets,” said Adel El Fakir, Director General of the ONMT, quoted in the release.
The five-year agreement covers the period from the summer season 2023 to winter 2027-2028. At the end of these 10 seasons, the company EasyJet Airlines will double its supply of seats to Morocco, from nearly 800,000 currently to 1.6 million seats in early 2028. Seven markets are involved, namely the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal, markets where the airline has air bases.
Under this agreement, EasyJet Airlines and the ONMT have agreed to develop several air connectivity on the destinations that the company already serves, namely Marrakech, Agadir, Essaouira and Tangier and to schedule new destinations such as Rabat, Fez and Ouarzazate.
For Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyjet, “easyJet has doubled its activity to Morocco as its popularity continues to grow among our customers. We remain committed to our ongoing cooperation with the Moroccan National Tourist Office and look forward to working together now and in the years to come to promote Morocco and all it has to offer.
In its tour-operating arm, Easyjet Holidays is committed to developing its customer portfolio in Morocco this summer. This cooperation with the ONMT will include an extensive marketing and communication campaign on Moroccan tourist destinations to boost sales.
Mr. Garry Wilson, CEO of easyJet holidays, said: “I am extremely pleased that we have signed our official commitment to cooperate with the Moroccan National Tourist Office for the next 5 years.
Through this strengthened partnership with EasyJet Group, the ONMT continues its commercial offensive on the European markets by positioning Morocco among the most attractive destinations.
